CVE-2026-32138 — API Key Exposure in Nexulean Website

High-severity Firebase and Web3Forms API credential exposure in Nexulean Website through publicly accessible client-side resources. Fixed in v2.0.0.

Overview

CVE-2026-32138 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting the Nexulean Website. The issue resulted from the exposure of Firebase and Web3Forms API credentials through publicly accessible client-side resources. Although certain frontend service identifiers are intended to be public, exposed credentials combined with insufficient restrictions may allow attackers to interact directly with backend services or abuse integrated third-party platforms.

Technical Description

The affected version of the application included service credentials within client-side assets that could be retrieved through normal browser interactions. An attacker inspecting JavaScript bundles or network traffic could obtain these values and attempt to use them outside the intended application workflow.

Potential risks included:

  • Unauthorized interaction with backend services.
  • Abuse of third-party integrations.
  • Automated spam or service misuse.
  • Increased operational costs due to unauthorized API consumption.

Impact

Successful exploitation could potentially allow an attacker to:

  • Interact directly with exposed backend endpoints.
  • Abuse configured third-party services.
  • Generate unauthorized requests using valid application credentials.
  • Increase infrastructure and API usage costs.
  • Attempt unauthorized access against improperly configured resources.

Remediation

The vulnerability was fully addressed in Nexulean Website v2.0.0 through a multi-layered security improvement process.

Credential Rotation

All affected Firebase and Web3Forms credentials were revoked and replaced. Previously exposed credentials were permanently invalidated.

Configuration Hardening

Application configuration files were reviewed and updated to ensure sensitive service credentials were no longer unnecessarily exposed in production builds.

Backend Security Review

A complete audit of backend service permissions was performed. Security rules and access policies were tightened so that possession of a client-side credential alone cannot grant unauthorized access.

Secret Management Improvements

Internal development practices were updated to improve secret handling during build and deployment. Sensitive values are now managed separately from application source code.

Defense-in-Depth

Additional security improvements included:

  • Improved access control validation.
  • Additional server-side verification for sensitive operations.
  • Reduction of the overall exposed attack surface.
  • Validation of production deployment settings before release.
